We are committed to Continued Safety Training. To date, over 50 Foremen, Drivers, Workers, and Subcontractors have received the coveted 10 Hour and 30 Hour OSHA certification. Competent Person (Excavation), Confined Space, Flagger Training, Fire Extinguisher, NC 811 / Damage Prevention, Work Zone Safety, Struck By, Caught In Between, PPE, Hazard -Communication, Equipment maintenance and operation, Forklift Certification are examples of the topics covered in the "Safety Day" Training days. Safety Training topics include Subpart AA, Confined Space for all employees, and subcontractors. All Foremen and potential leaders have received Competent Person Training in Confined Space, Trench & Excavation, Silica Hazards. Examples of the Training topics are NC 811 Pipes Plus, Equipment Safety, Risk Management, Silica Hazards, and Concrete Washout. The Training Days are all day events, taught in English and Spanish. All Employees and Sub Contractors receive Safety Training in their preferred language at these events.

MESH- NCSU '15, OSHA 500 & 501, Trench / Excavation Trainer, Confined Space Trainer, Work Zone Supervisor & Flagger Trainer, NC Licensed Contractor "Unclassified" are examples of certificates and licenses.
J.F. Wilkerson received the NUCA of the Carolinas Safety Award many times, and NUCA National Safety Award (Less than 150,000 hours) several times. J.F. Wilkerson Contracting has achieved the NUCA National William H. Feather Safety Award 100,000 to 200,000 hours four times over the years, with the most recent in Las Vegas 2023.

Safety on the projects is accomplished in a variety of ways. Daily and weekly Safety Meetings are facilitated by the Foremen. Safety Reports are given at the weekly Management Meetings. "Safety Days" are all day Safety Events held periodically.
Subcontractors are invited and encouraged to attend all Safety Events and Training Opportunities.
