"Truck Hood" Safety Training
We are committed to Continued Safety Training. To date, 28 Foremen, Drivers, Workers, and Subcontractors have received the coveted 10 Hour OSHA certification. Competent Person (Excavation), Confined Space, Flagger Training, Fire Extinguisher, NC 811 / Damage Prevention, Work Zone Safety, Struck By, Caught In Between, PPE, Hazard -Communication, Equipment maintenance and operation, Forklift Certification are examples of the topics covered in the "Safety Day" Training days. Safety Training topics include Subpart AA, Confined Space for all employees, and subcontractors. All Foremen and potential leaders have received Competent Person Training in Confined Space, Trench & Excavation, Silica Hazards. The Training topics for 2017 were NC 811 Pipes Plus, Equipment Safety, Risk Management, Silica Hazards, and Concrete Washout. The Training was another all day event, taught in English and Spanish. 60 Employees and Sub Contractors received Safety Training in their preferred language.
The J.F. Wilkerson Full -Time Safety Director & Trainer has over 30 years of experience in Construction and Safety.
MESH- NCSU '15, OSHA 500, Trench / Excavation Trainer, Confined Space Trainer, Work Zone Supervisor & Flagger Trainer, NC Licensed "Unclassified" are examples of certifications and licenses.
J.F. Wilkerson received the NUCA of the Carolinas Safety Award in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and NUCA National Safety Award (Less than 150,000 hours) for the year 2014 and 2017. J.F. Wilkerson Contracting has achieved the 2015 NUCA National William H. Feather Safety Award 100,000 to 200,000 hours. JF Wilkerson is proud to have achieved "Honorable Mention" for the 2018 National NUCA Safety Award! We are proud to earn these honors, but they are not the reason our Safety Program exists. Safety on the jobsites is accomplished in a variety of ways. Daily and weekly Safety Meetings are facilitated by the Foremen. Safety Reports are given at the weekly Management Meetings. "Safety Days" are all day Safety Events held periodically.
Subcontractors are invited and encouraged to attend all Safety Events and Training Opportunities.
